Techniques You Must Stop Practising For SEO ASAP!

Search engine algorithms are constantly changing, rendering previous and so far useful SEO techniques trite and ineffective. Therefore, here is a list of optimization techniques, which all companies providing SEO services in New York are advised to stop using as they are no longer helpful in boosting up the rankings.

Article submission:

If you are still stuck with article submission websites, you are lagging way behind in the game of SEO. Not only now, but even before Panda and Penguin updates had not rolled out; this technique was never very effective for increasing online visibility.

Link building just like any other optimization method is a time-consuming, tedious and not easy at all. Therefore instead of chasing easy links, write guest blog posts as this would add value to your website by securing more exposure among audiences and reference from authoritative websites.

Publishing press releases without any real news

Now that article submission is no longer effective, it doesn’t mean that you could switch to publishing press releases randomly. Sure, you can go ahead and publish one, but only if you have something actually newsworthy to share.

Don’t publish them as a routine procedure twice a month just to secure some links from news channels. This is because every industry is loaded with millions of businesses. Therefore, unless you have done something absolutely extraordinary, getting yourself heard is going to be extremely challenging. Publishing PRs just for securing links is just as ineffective as article submission.

Publishing thin content

Thin content is unhealthy for any search engine optimization campaign and this is a point which can’t be stressed enough. Content is excellent for getting quality links, but only if it supplies real and useful information. Before devising a piece of content, ask yourself, are you writing it to build a quality audience or are you writing it for search engines. FYI these two things should never be mutually exclusive.

If you feel tired of writing the same old facts again and again, because you are running out of ways to present that information, you are probably doing it all wrong.

Focusing only on Google

Devising SEO strategies while keeping in mind only Google is like keeping all the eggs in one basket. Just like people are suggested to diverse their investment portfolio, same goes with search engine optimization. Gather statistics and see what percentage of traffic is coming from Google and how much of it is coming from other search engines, and accordingly work for it.
